Obstetrical Applications -The
Freedop doppler, using the 3 MHz probe can detect the fetal
heart beat as early as 8-10 weeks. The 2 MHz
probe is used for larger patients and later in the pregnancy.
This 2 MHz probe can also be placed in a waterproof sheath for
use in underwater labor and delivery. Obstetric applications include detecting pregnancy, reassuring the mother,
and determining multiple pregnancies.
Vascular Applications -
The Freedop doppler, using
the 5 MHz and 8 MHz probes, assists in detecting and
localizing vessels, determining patency, and aiding in catheter
insertion. It is an excellent tool for obtaining
accurate low systolic blood pressures and performing
ankle/brachial index studies.
